SDR-Console 3.4 - Crashing

Unread post by Wadlbeiszer200 »

Hello,

i used sdr-console for a few years every now and then, but since a few months i cannot get it to work anymore. My Airspy is working fine with sdr++, but sadly not with sdr-console.

Error Description:
- Console crashes after a few seconds of receiving
- removed definitions --> does not crash anymore, but as soon as i try to add my airspy it crashes instantly
- there is no error message of any sort, it just closes completely

My Setup:
- Win11 22H2 (x64)
- Ryzen 7 3700X
- 32 GB Ram
- Airspy HF+ Discovery

What did i try:
- numerous restarts of the computer (issue happens since months)
- quite a few windows updates
- reinstallation of sdr console, even updating to newest version
- reinstallation of redistributables
- manual deinstallation of all redistributables followed by a manual installation of the ones coming with sdr-console
- resetting sdr console

I really could need some help, i dont want to use sdr++ i want the console :D
I tried to add airspy into the definitions and saved the logfile after the crash, its attached.

Thanks :)

As an experiment, have you tried opening a different Identity and then trying to start the HF+?

Try creating a new definition for the AirSpy. Have you tried to replace any files? Did you use Zadig on the AirSpy? (I hope you didn't.) Did you install any new whizbang dll files for SDRC? (They do not exist so suspect malware or bad hackery.)

Hi jdow,

thanks for trying to help me, but as stated, the sdr console is crashing as soon as i select the airspy to add it, so i cannot create a new definition without it crashing.
also i already tried to reinstall sdr console, resetting sdr console, reinstalling redistributables. i also redownloaded it for every reinstallation i did.
so yes, i already did anything you mentioned (at least 5 times haha)
No, i did not use zadig on the airspy, otherwise it would not work with sdr++ and sdr#.
No, i did not install any other things besides the original sdr console.

What I'd do next is nuke SDRC from the system. Delete it's registry entries and %AppData% entries. Then reinstall, add no com ports or other doodads, and create the crash. Then get the SDRC log files. That MAY show the problem. Do this even considering your logs above. They show com10 being opened, for example. We can try installing additional features, com10 for example, in a different order and see if that solves anything. Do not have any other ham radio software running when you experiment with SDRC. (A browser probably won't conflict. A logging program, control program, or other SDR program might or worse can create conflicts.)

By the way - what IS com10 on your system? And what does Device Manager say about it and about the AirSpy dongle. It is important that "%AppData%/SDR-RADIO.com (V3)" is renamed to something else or removed as well as removing or renaming the registry entry for SDR-RADIO.com (V3): "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SDR-RADIO.com (V3)". There could be a poison entry in the stored data for SDRC.
