Problems with basic reception

Issue: Just setup a new SMArt XTR SDR dongle to the laptop below attached to the default antenna. When trying to listen to local FM stations I see the patterns in the waterfall but all a get for audio is a chopping sound with muffled music or voices underneath. Have used RTL-SDR, and NESDR SMArt over the years and have never gotten past this point. What is happening? What other information can I provide?

Computer: HP Spectre with i7, 32gb RAM, 2tb SSD, Windows 11
SDR: Nesdr SMArt XTR, HamItUp, Nooelec LNA, antenna that came with it all
Software: SDR-Console 3.3 2024-02-05_0741
