The firmware loads, the device is identified as Model: RX999, Firmware: v2.2, but there is no RX999 in Definitions, and searching for RX-888 does not find the device

Why is it identifying as a RX999 (last line)?

I remember lines in the file that the uninitiated dongles read that refer to an RX-999. But that's all I remember about it.

Only the HDSDR sees it, and even then, without VHF or the ability to control the receiver.

I may try something next week.

And returns might not be possible considering recent events. Who knows what is in the box you received. Where you get the DLL driver for it may make a big difference how it works, if it is really a 999 version. A search on GitHub might turn up something interesting.
