Select Satellite (, 0 available)

Hoping someone can help. I've been using Simon's World Map for a while and never had an issue setting up satellites. Earlier in the week I noticed that the ISS tracking had fallen behind and refreshed the GPData. From that point on, I have no satellite tracking, my main and other satellite lists are gone, and I cannot reselect them because I do not have a list of satellites ( Select Satellite (, 0 available) ).

I have tried all three options under Select the data set. I did initially get 'timed out' on the Celestrak servers, so I am waiting several hours between attempts now. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled from a fresh download of v1.4 (although I suspect something was left behind because my map preferences carried over).

Log file is below after an attempt to refresh the 'Active' data set. Afterwards I still show Select Satellite (, 0 available)

Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

Hi,

The download only retrieved 1892 bytes, this is not correct. FWIW, Select: Ribbon Bar, Satellite, GP Data and press Active.

Another thought - has the download been blocked somehow?

Also, which version is this? The current version offers more diagnostics.

Thanks for the responses Simon. I am using v1.4.0 and the "Active" data set.

Found the problem - it seems like my IP may be blocked from the Celestrak side. Although clicking the Celestrak Current Data link in the ribbon doesn't always give me the 403 forbidden (which it does when it says I'm locked out), I was able to download the refreshed dataset from a different IP (my phones hotspot connection)

I have been doing a lot of experimentation with satellite tracking and astronomy gear (using a telescope mount to move an arrow antenna around), and I suspect that one of those other apps (or a combination of all of them) that I was trying out was hitting the Celestrak servers more than allowed. I'll send an email to ts.kelso@celestrak.org to see if they can release my home IP address from purgatory.

PP donation is on its way!

P.S. - Not sure if I have seen this feature request in the forum. WJST-X and other programs use 127.0.0.1 port 2237 to send contact/log information to other programs to keep them all in sync. Any chance that a feature could be built in Simon's World Map to listen for this broadcast and put the last contact made on the map (and maybe a little trajectory line from the 'home' position to that spot?
