There is a pop-up window (via Ctrl key) for frequency input, but I cannot find a way to set the filter width in a similar way, instead of dragging the green lines with a mouse. Am I missing something, or there is indeed no way to change it manually from my keyboard?

Have you got the RX DSP panel open? This contains many options for the RX including mode setting and filter widths.

There's no way to change filter width with a keyboard shortcut at present.

Thank you, Max, yes, I have it open, and yes, it is possible to select different filter widths there. That said, it is still a selection from a set of fixed definitions, and to add a new value for that width, I have to add a new definition. What I meant was just typing any value from the keyboard. However, thank you for reminding me of the Filter part of RX DSP panel, I saw it earlier but did not use it for a while.

No problem for me to use a mouse (actually a touchpad :)) to open that Filter thing in the panel.
Still does my memory serve me well when I think it _was_ possible to type the width from the keyboard in some earlier version of SDR Console? (I first tried this great software a couple of years ago.)

Doing this live is not supported, I believe. It might be in SDRSharp.

There is a way to define custom filters, however. First button under "Filters" (just under the Modes button) is "...". Click on it to see what it does. If you can tell me what it is you are trying to do privately email me here. I may be able to help you. I've been fiddling with radios with a license since 1959 and professionally since about 1967 mostly with frequency synthesizers, low phase noise systems, high dynamic range receivers, etc. I've been around the block a few times. (And I'll have to remember to check these forums more often for you.)

It's a shame SDRC has so little real remote control capability. It would benefit from a fairly comprehensive API for remote control, both by MIDI, Ethernet, and a serial interface. I favor a TCP/IP solution.

Wait a minute - are you talking about the signal bandwidth filter or the overall reception bandwidth for the front end tuning? For the latter there is no way to deal with it real time with the DSP running. It involves changing the sample rate of the front end. You CAN zoom the spectrum around the center of the spectrum/waterfall display with the zoom slider. Unfortunately zoom is not remotely controlled.

The signal bandwidth hack I was thinking of simply defined a filter with the bandwidth I wanted and then switch to that filter when needed. It's not all that flexible, though.

I meant the earlier. Thank you, I know about the reception bandwidth, as well as that zoom slider.

Exactly. Not a major issue, but sometimes it may be useful to be able to adjust the filter bandwith without defining additional fixed-width filters.

Indeed it would. I used that a lot on my ICOM 756 ProII for which I built a comprehensive remote control tool. Control at that level for the SDRConsole functions would be nice. But, it is what it is.
