Memory Transfer From Radio To Program ?

Hello,

I posted this, first, to the GroupsIO Forum before I realized that I should have
probably posted here instead. Sorry. Blame it on old age now.

Question:

Have an Icom R8600.
The program seems to capture the radio just fine, as the small white
light on the radio is lit, signifying that it is "locked".

I have a zillion frequencies stored in the radio's memory banks, that I would
like to transfer to the program, and be able to use from the program.

Doing it one at a time would be a formidable task.

Any other way of doing it ?
Suggestions ?

Thanks Simon for making this wonderful program available.

Regards,
Bob

No facility to do this exists. It would be a major process to encode this for every radio or protocol out there. So Simon notes SDRC is not remote control software. It is SDR software that can be bent into very limited radio remote control.

So "nope" is the short answer.

Hi Bob. It does not matter which group you post in. All are monitored by most of us who are here regularly.

There is no straightforward way to transfer the memories from the R8600 local memories to SDR Console. SDR Console can export its own memories to an XML file for backup purposes. It would need someone to write software to edit that XML file with a user-friendly interface or create an SDRC compatible XML file from manually edited memories data or a CSV file.

Sadly I think you are just looking at some hard labour to transfer over the memories by hand at the moment. There is a program available to download at $25 cost (you may also need the cable at extra $12) to extract and edit the memories in the R8600 on a Windows PC. It might help a little to be able to see the memories all listed on the PC screen rather than having to fiddle about with the R8600's own display them one by one:

Sorry, not the answer you wanted but may ease the pain of transferring the memories manually?
