Dear G4ELI,
I made a silly post a while back, and then I bought an SDRplay and SDRSwitch.
V3.4 saw the SDR and ...setup Omnirig....and my mind was blown about twenty minutes later as I pulled in tiny signals and ramped up DSP ...
This is the best RX I've ever had ..
Thanks so much Mr Brown
Thanks Simon

Had a look at your QRZ.com Jake. From the comments in your post I strongly suggest you now go the final step and at least take a look at the Hermes Lite 2. Yes, bit lower power than the Xiegu but easily fixable with a small amp. Everything you currently have but full direct sampling SDR transceiver with superb receiver, much better than the RSP IMHO and no separate receiver or external radio syncing to worry about. Smaller, lighter....... I could go on.2E0JFS wrote: Sun Apr 13, 2025 1:31 am V3.4 saw the SDR and ...setup Omnirig....and my mind was blown about twenty minutes later as I pulled in tiny signals and ramped up DSP ...
Just for info, I run mine at home driving a 600W LDMOS amp (rarely used at more than about 300W) but couple nights ago testing latest version of WSJT-X I just connected antenna straight to the HL2 so about 4W on 40m. Answered one CQ then had string of stations calling me back for contact. Works brilliantly (and very simply) with WSJT-X and Log4OM. Not an external connection in sight apart from the antenna and LAN cable of course:

Of course you may want to keep the Xiegu "rig in a box" for use without laptop in which case please ignore my ramblings.....

Hi Max,
I have been thinking of a Hermes Lite for a while - this was a sort of bridge - as to be honest I was so Superhet up until now, and as an IT Pro, I was worried about mixing hobby and work - but its so nice to use - I kind of gravited to it more than I thought I would - have so many questions at the moment mainly about amps.
I'll make another post
