It's all about the Software

Current situation:
Kenwood TS-870 CAT Port <-> PC COM1 (Ham Radio Deluxe as rig control / logbook) <-> PowerSDR / IF Stage v1.19.3.5 (my visual front end panadaptor - also does rig control by point it to Ham Radio Deluxe

Current situation works, but I REALLY like the looks of your SDR Console a LOT more.

My question, can SDR Console work using Ham Radio Deluxe in stead of the Omni-Rig?

SDRC works via specific Kenwood protocols. HRD probably can speak this. I do not know whether you'll get the level of control you want, though. Follow the menus on the SDR-Radio.com website to learn more about what Kenwood commands are supported. It is a (very?) small subset.
