Hello,
Might someone give me a few hints on when and where the "SAM" mode is (best) utilized ?
And, how to ?
Thanks,
Bob

AM sounds flat, SAM sounds fuller with more dynamic. The difference is best noticable with music.

I've never understood the bad press AM (envelope) detection gets.
Apart from SAM's locked oscillator and improved response to selective fading, it doesn't have a significant
intrinsic advantage over the envelope method.
Most of the difference arises from using "bargain basement" envelope detector circuitry.
See
Approaches to Wideband and High Fidelity AM/MW Broadcast Band Reception by Felix Scerri VK4FUQ for an example of how to do it properly.
