Anan Ant selection

#1

Unread post by N2EME »

Dear Simon,
Would it be possible to allow the selection of different TX and RX antennas with the Anan radios?
The reason I ask is that I have been unable to see how I can use the transverter TX and RX SMA options on the Anan Radios.
As many transverters run separate TX and RX IFs it would be useful to say assign ANT1 to the RX chain and ANT2 to the TX chain.

Any of that make sense?

Hi,
First, wich ANAN model do you have?

On the 7k and 8k models the ANT1/2/3 connectors are all combined RX/TX. They connect all to TX and RX1 via relays.
So there is always a danger that you blow up a (active) RX-only antenna when you transmit on the wrong port.
I recomend that you use the RX2 antenna input for all your RX-only antenna's and switch between them with a manual switch.
Within SDRC you can already choose between ANT1/2/3 (so TX/RX1) or the second receiver RX2.
You can't use RX1 or RX2 the same time in SDRC as f.e. in Thetis where you can assign RX1 to VFO-A and RX2 to VFO-B.

PD3LK GM I have several 10e' and a 200D. I only really do VHF so I have separate TX and RX lines. If I could choose ANT1 as my TX and Ant 2 as my RX then I would not have to add an extra relay between the Anan and the TX and RX lines. It is not a big deal to add another relay for say 6m but it would also be nice not to.

Clear Paul, i missed the core of your request, what i was saying, it is technical not possible to assign Ant1/2/3 BNC ports to RX2 but that was obvious not what you asked. What you want has already been done in Thetis, i love to have something similair too in SDRC. 73, Leon
