Re: External radio tracking: can lose sync when rapidly changing frequencies

I went back to v3.2 where this is not an issue. In v3.2, the ">SDR" only appears when the frequency is changed on the external radio. If the frequency is changed in SDRC, it doesn't appear and thus this bug is only an issue if I: 1) change the frequency on the external radio 2) within a se...

Re: External radio tracking: can lose sync if changing frequency while >SDR is visible

A little more debugging...this "blocking" happens when ">SDR" is visible in External Radio. It seems SDRC blocks setting the External Radio freq while it is verifying the SDR freq is correct. Maybe this step is taking longer than it should w/ RTL-SDR which adds to the problem. 20...

Re: External radio tracking: can lose sync when rapidly changing frequencies

I turned Omni-Rig debugging on, and see no evidence of these "blocked" frequency changes. Seems they are not being sent from SDRC to Omni-Rig.

External radio tracking: can lose sync when rapidly changing frequencies

SDRC v3.3 When rapidly changing frequencies, sometimes the external radio frequency does not get updated to match the SDR frequency. It usually tracks even when scrolling rapidly, but 5-10% of the time does not. The fix is simply to change frequency again and it updates to match. Excerpt from extern...

Re: External radio IF offset not updated / applied when changing modes

Yes, switching USB ports was the big fix. And turning on automatic gain to get the beta version working. There is one little quirk present in v3.3. The SDR frequency doesn't always track the external radio. It works 90% of the time, but there is some weird timing where if I click to change frequency...

Re: External radio IF offset not updated / applied when changing modes

I bought this RTL-SDR in 2015. I do have a second one I could try to see if it compares.

I'm not having any problems at all now. The offset is correctly applied, both on start-up and when switching modes. It's working as it should.

Re: External radio IF offset not updated / applied when changing modes

Thanks for the detailed response. I should add that I have the spectrum inverted and with the current settings it is performing 100% as expected. The "utterly preposterous offsets" were adjusted solely to make it behave correctly. As I'm writing this, I'm realizing I do have a typo in the ...

Re: External radio IF offset not updated / applied when changing modes

I'm running a pretty straightforward setup. It's normal, as I understand, for IF offsets to be different by mode -- thus why most SDR suites have settings. I am running an Icom 756 Pro III with 64.445 MHz IF output. SDRC changes the center frequency of the SDR whenever the mode is switched, to adjus...

SOLVED: External radio IF offset not updated / applied when changing modes

Well, the solution was to plug it into a different USB port. More information at the link below.

Still no joy with v3.3 but will save that for another day.

RTL-SDR only: External radio IF offset not updated / applied when changing modes

I did some digging in the v3.2 logfile. Looks like SDRconsole is trying to set the center frequency, but the RTL-SDR isn't cooperating. 18:51:23.598: Radio RTL SDR (USB): Frequency> Set 64.448.950 (async), Now 0, Direct 0, PPM 0, status -9 after 22 ms At startup, the frequency is set and returns sta...
