A little more debugging...this "blocking" happens when ">SDR" is visible in External Radio. It seems SDRC blocks setting the External Radio freq while it is verifying the SDR freq is correct. Maybe this step is taking longer than it should w/ RTL-SDR which adds to the problem. 20...

I turned Omni-Rig debugging on, and see no evidence of these "blocked" frequency changes. Seems they are not being sent from SDRC to Omni-Rig.

Yes, switching USB ports was the big fix. And turning on automatic gain to get the beta version working. There is one little quirk present in v3.3. I bought this RTL-SDR in 2015. I do have a second one I could try to see if it compares.

I'm not having any problems at all now. The offset is correctly applied, both on start-up and when switching modes. It's working as it should.

Thanks for the detailed response. I should add that I have the spectrum inverted and with the current settings it is performing 100% as expected. The "utterly preposterous offsets" were adjusted solely to make it behave correctly. As I'm writing this, I'm realizing I do have a typo in the ...
