Just ran across this little blurb about DC-light receiver:

Hmm. Just tried it with SW2 v3.033 and it behaves the same as console. The signal peaks do not move. I have an external low pass filter set for 530Khz for my NDB hobby. In the pass band of the filter, the noise floor does not move when I switch the attenuator. In the stop band where the external noi...
Happy for you Tony, personally i would grabbed this event to convince my wife that i need a new PC ;) Serious now, did you replaced the battery on the mb? a bad battery can be the problem. Good point about the battery. They seem to last forever but this board is pretty old. I will replace it. Edit:...
So, maybe this is slightly off-topic but it may bite you some time. I'm not sure if two events are related so I will mention both. I leave my machine on pretty much 24/7. It is an ASUS P8Z77WS motherboard with an I7 3770 CPU. I bought the motherboard a few years ago to bring my horsepower up to snuf...
When you turn on the attenuator, the software automatically corrects the reading to compensate. After all, the actual signal arriving at the receiver has not changed so the reading should not change either. If you are not convinced that the attenuator is working, try disconnecting the antenna and th...
When I am chasing NDBs, I do it visually with the waterfall. I use the X8 resolution which is pretty good for closely packed beacons. But there are times when it isn't good enough. I have tried slowing down to 10 lines/sec which makes a smaller bin width but then the cw ident becomes too squashed to...

Might still be overloading. The built in attenuator is only 12db (regardless of what it says in SDRC). I have seen situations with my S2 where 12 db was not enough. If you have an external attenuator you can use, you might give it a try. I have not see a case where 20db was not enough.

Paper tape on a model 33 Teletype, 1970 in high school. BASIC language. First program played Tic-Tac-Toe. Later, in college, it was punch cards (IBM 026 and 029 keypunch) with Fortran. I was a hardware guy though. I wrote a bunch of code but never for customers. I should have retired a few years ago...
