Re: issue with changing frequency

This is likely another issue with MFC, Microsoft Foundation Classes. They have what is called a message loop. If that loop gets stuffed you get into trouble. That can happen when a message takes too long to be completely processed. More messages cue up and if they cannot be serviced fast enough resp...

Re: Elimination of DC and Mirror signals

With SDRC that pip in the center is most often associated with poor and ineffective gain control settings. I usually run with manual RX gain set to 32 dB with visual gain set to about -3 dB. The latter gives me a reasonably accurate level display. The former brings up incoming noise to a level that ...

Re: issue with changing frequency

Which version of SDRC? (If not the latest, get the latest.) What else is running on the computer behind SDRC? Do you have the system running in a low power mode for some reason? Your description suggests SDRC is falling behind in its message loops or else something is interrupting the message loops....

Re: LimeSDR DC spikes and CPU usage

Thanks - it was late and I was not sure. N log N corresponds with more reasonable numbers for his 61 MHz vs the usual usage for 10 Msps on a laptop.

Re: LimeSDR DC spikes and CPU usage

For further explanation I believe the FFT is a computation that requires roughly speaking a constant times the square of the number of FFT bins. So you'd be using about 1/40th the amount of CPU grinding out the full bandwidth of an AirSpy R2 spectrum. I also believe the latest SDRC may have an optio...

Re: LimeSDR DC spikes and CPU usage

Um, Timmy, you do not have a problem in the part of the loop that runs from the keyboard through the computer up to the eyeball. If you exercise said eyeball and look towards the lower left if your picture it shows your bandwidth is 61.44 MHz. It's more or less astonishing that the CPU load is that ...

Re: phase canceled noise

"Instead of reducing gain during an impulse, combine only the impulse with the polarity inverted version of itself- add the inverted version of the impulse to the channel to cancel it out." That is where the concept fails. It's noise. And the noise on 10.0000 MHz, for example, is not the same as wha...

Re: phase canceled noise

There is a long acronym you should learn intimately. It is "TANSTAAFL". It translates to (US slang) as, "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch." This applies to efforts to phase cancel noise using two receivers. You can achieve some noise nulling. If what you want lies in the same direction, it ...

Re: Questions about configuring sdr-radio software

1) I'm afraid for audio IQ input SDRSharp might be the best solution. For VLF reception, once the up converter irritates you enough. the AirSpy HF+ Discovery is an exceptionally good front end device. 2) Why on Earth would you be up-converting to 110 GHz? I suspect you need to enter 110000000 in the...

Re: Computer (benchmark) spreadsheet for SDRconsole

on2ron - simply see if it will run and how many matrix windows can run for a straight two hours without going belly up. But that video card might be a bit weak. Mostly I wonder if it works right. It appears the AMD chips survived the specter wars better than Intel. (It REALLY hurt when this machine ...
