You need to enable the Navigator window and drag and snap it in place. In the first picture you have, in the 2nd, you havn't.

You can record the whole bandwidth of your radio and use Datafile Editor to pull out any segments from the recording.
You can't make 2 separate recordings at the same time, however.

By 'resolution' I mean how fine the waterfall is. It's quite coarse, the increased line count by reducing the number of lines per second just spreads the coarseness out, if that makes sense. You have your receiver set to 50.303 and your radio centre set to 1296Mhz. If you click within the spectrum or waterfall, your receiver will retune to within the currently selected passband of your radio.
