Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
Max is correct about attachment vs inline. (raises small me2 hand.) {^_-} Set visual gain to zero. Make it work. Then see what happens when you play with visual gain. I'd also suggest eschewing S9 type S-meter display and select the dBm display. I don't remember if that leaves S-Meter and mute setti...

Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
Good point - pictures showing control settings tell the story. If he is monitoring at IF frequency of his transceiver, for example, it is unlikely he'll be able to use muting effectively, especially if his front end has an AGC of its own - but then the transceiver's IF would still be infected with t...

Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
Bingo - with the explanation all in one place and with the added information my memory got keyed. On the transmit panel look for what I have outlined in red. If either of those monitors are on results could be counter your expectations. The monitor function set on for TX could give you what you are ...

Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
Actually I suspect we both are making assumptions here that are possibly wrong. Nowhere has the gentleman remarked about his front end de guerre. That can make a very big difference. Now, numbers that might be interesting are the signal strength on the S-Meter and spectrum display both for very stro...

Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
Um, "Duh" moment here. The RTLSDR dongle has a VERY limited dynamic range as transmitted through USB, 8 bits. That means it's dynamic range, even with averaging effects from narrow bandwidths, he may not be developing enough overload signal to effect muting properly. It really will be inte...

Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
What is the length of a dit with slow CW? You may be stuck with effective break-in keying. It occurs to me that I don't know if the muting simply mutes audio or it also mutes the whole receive chain. I suspect the former given its original intent to prevent microphone feedback when transmitting. {^_^}

Re: NB and NR control via CAT
Nope - not gonna be done, likely as not. Simon wants to wrap the project in a known "good" state for long term support before making more big changes. And remote controlling "everything" is a HUGE endeavor.

Re: Build 3131 Eating Up Ram & Locks Up the Computer
OK, I see a note at the top of the resource monitor that says high ram tasks are consuming (only) 8.77G of ram. Are you sure you really have 64G of ram? Is the onboard graphics of the CPU chip turned off? If not how much ram is allocated to video? SDRConsole surely is not using all that ram. Only tw...

Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
"I would love to see a longer mute delay. When the mute was working, it recovered too quickly during slow CW (Morse code) transmission." Tools->Options->Auto-Mute (It sounds like you are in there, right?) This offers you settings for enabling it and two modes with level setting for each. B...

Re: Mute doesn't, well, mute...
Without looking back due to old age and laziness, if the TR switch is GOOD and the TX is real QRP it is possible that the incoming signals will be stronger than the TX leakage. Maybe Max would remember better than I do whether there is an alternative muting method that could tap into the TX's transm...
