TX led on Linear after HL2

#1

Unread post by G8VLR »

Another issue has occurred in tx. I have a linear amp after the HL2 on which there is a tx led. When using SDRc once in a few transmissions the tx led stays lit, so I tried with Thetis and the issue doesn't exist then.

Regards,

Roger.

Roger,

You're really going to provide more info, for example how does SDR Console interface to the linear? What's the setup?

Hi Simon, the lead is screened with phono plugs on each end and plugged into the HL2 ptt socket and the ptt socket on the linear . The linear, an HLA 300, requires the ptt line to be taken to ground for transmit

Hope that's enough info.

Cheers,

Roger.

Update on this issue: only when I use the tx button or the foot switch; if I use the tune button everything works as it should.

Cheers,

Roger.

Hah, not possible :) - trust me.

This is now high on my list, I was wondering about RF. Although the LED on the amp is lit, is it actually in TX? From memory I doubt I have an option to key an external amp, will try to look at this tomorrow.

Thanks Simon,

Although the tx led is lit in fault condition, it is receiving but with considerable attenuation.

Cheers,

Roger.

OK,

I'm getting through my urgent list, aka legal stuff, with luck I'll dig out my HL2 today.

So,

HL2 dug out, please show me these options as set on your HL2. I'm now going to look through the code...

OK,

Thinking about this and reading the HL2 information, what is happening is that a TRX relay isn't switching properly, this must be the problem. The way I switch TX / RX / TX is the same, no matter whether you use a footswitch or VOX or click the big [TX] button.

I'll keep thinking.
