USB most probably: https://www.sdr-radio.com/usb .
To give credit where credit is due. Replaced the desktop power supply today. The RSPduo has been running like a top ever since. I did remove the previous test kit and the Registry entries, then installed today's test kit.

Thanks Simon.

Eight days later and it freezes up again. This is the opportunity to build a new system and convert the existing system to Linux. Going shopping next week. I foresee a i7 10th gen system in my future.

Buy a good USB3 PCIe card. Don't buy 10th gen, wait for 11th gen later this year.

The *only* slot I have available is slot 4. My GeForce GTX1050 occupies slots 1&2 with my wifi card in 3.

I mentioned this card earlier. Here it is:

Cost is £26 It should fit in the reaming slot okay. You'll need a spare SATA power lead. If building from scratch, I recommend a full size ATX board. Slightly bigger case needed. Mine's a Gigabyte Z490 UD. There's another version that has two antenna sockets on the backplane which may be of interest to you.

Since this happened, I've been running a controlled experiment. This issue continues, however it only occurs with the SDRplay RSPduo. I have an RSPpro and the issue never happens with it. I've moved the RSPduo between two different i7 systems (one a desktop and one al gamers aptop), and it's only occurs with the RSPduo. The USB cable in use makes no difference.

It's the port, not the cable. Also check the USB power settings.
