Another freeze-up

#1

Unread post by mbott »

The latest SDR Console V3 test kit (August 17th 2020) failed tonight when using the V3 API. . Attempts to select the SDRplay RSPduo yielded a frozen screen. So, I uninstalled the kit and removed the SDR Console V3 entries in the registration file. After the reinstall completed, I had a working installation with the RSPduo and V3 API. As I was making the configuration changes to suit my preferences, I stopped Console, changed the Sample rate and restarted the RSPduo. It immediately froze up.

Attached is the screen shot and the log file.

I would expect SDRuno 1.40.1 to have the same issue should the problem be the USB.

Two very different programs. It's either USB or the comms between the main program and the service.

Still not convinced it is an USB issue as this kit and the previous several kits ran fine for the last 10 days or so.

Mike, i had something similair with my RSP2pro after the latest SDRuno 1.40 update, it seems something go's wrong with the installation of the API.
I got things working again by uninstalling SDR Uno and the API completely, reboot and reinstall both again.

Well, it happened again however I think I have a better clue. This freeze happened within the first second after starting. Up until this point, I could not get the RSPduo restarted after a freeze. But with what I read in the log file, I'm now thinking it is VAC related. As soon as I change the audio out from Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable) to any other working audio, the RSPduo began to respond. Even switching back to the VAC worked.

Attached are the screenshot and log.

I've upgraded the VAC as I was a couple of minor releases behind.

I don't understand. If it was a USB issue, how I could get 10 days of use then this freeze-up? The VAC "lead" I thought I had wasn't. :(

" I could not get the RSPduo restarted after a freeze" .... this happens with laptops/pc's that have always 5V present on there USB, even when they are not started. So the RSP doesn't get a reset after it hangs, you have to unplug the usb cable for that.
