Tune signal

#1

Unread post by dl2sba »

Hi Forum

I cannot find any information regarding the signal used when I press "TUNE" in USB mode.

In the settings I can only find the option pulses/steady tone ...

Where can I control the tone frequency and level used in TUNE mode?

Frequency is fixed, level set by the Drive control under the Tune button.

Yes the drive slider is known - but it does not affect the modulation level - at least the the Sepctrum window did not reflect this.

Which modulation frequency is used during TUNE mode?

500Hz frequency, 3dB below max. peak but the Drive reduces this level further.

Tone(s) generator is fully configurable for level, frequency and number of tones but don't forget the level is affected by the TX DSP Gain slider. See attachment.

@Max
Yes - for the TONE function I agree
The TUNE function, as I've learned now, has a fixed 500Hz tone with -3dB

@Simon
Maybe the same options as for the TONE 1 also for the TUNE signal in a future release?

No point I think.

The point is that the Tune signal is ONLY affected by Drive. I agree with Simon on that one. They are different and each has its own specific place/use. It's handy having Tune where you know that the level cannot be affected elsewhere in the processing chain.
