Average/Integrate Spectrum buckets?

#1

Unread post by MisterJ »

Is it possible to Average/Integrate Spectrum buckets with Console? Air Spy has Astro Spy and other applications support averaging for a given sample count. Thanks and enjoy, John.

EDIT: I am running 3.0.27 Preliminary on an Air Spy. I tried Smoothing in View. When I click on Spectrum, nothing happens. I find little information on how to use it and obviously do not know. Help would be appreciated!

NO6B, I have tried this with little luck. I am busy with another problem, but will try it later. Thanks, John.

Hi,

There are things happening in the background so that the data is already averaged / interpolated to one value per DIP (pixel). Smoothing introduces algorithms to reduce the visual noise and make signals easier to see.

If you do have problems just post a screenshot.

The defaults should be good.

Thanks much, Simon. I will work on this in a couple of weeks. I was looking for the effect I see with AirSpy's AstroSpy. Thanks, John.

John,

Not being a user of AstroSpy I have no idea what it looks like, so next time maybe a screenshot or video?

Here are the screenshots I promised. The first is right after starting integration in AstroSpy and the second is after some time integrating. Please ask any questions. Thanks and enjoy, John.

Why not past screenshots as attachments to your message rather than hosting externally?

Having viewed the images this request is beyond the scope of a real-time spectrum display. I do see how it could be of use but I can only support this via an additional feature.
