SDR-CONSOLE with more than one radio window

#1

Unread post by Camerart »

Hi,
Using SDR-CONSOLE with multiple dongles, is it possible to have more than one fully working radio on the screen at the same time?
Cheers, Camerart

Yes, you can - but only by running multiple instances of Console.

It is also advisable to use a separate identity got each instance.

Hi J,
Ok, thanks.
In Console, when ADD+ is used and other small windows appear, are they all using the same dongle? If so are they limited to one dongle bandwidth?

If you're talking about adding another receiver within the same instance of Console, yes that will be within the received bandwidth of the radio/dongle. All open receivers will need to be within the bandwidth of the dongle you are using in order to work.

Hi J,
Of course they would be! Didn't think it through.

Re-phrased: If ADD is used so multiple 'windows' are used with multiple dongles, set-up so as each one follows the previous one, can they 'see' all of the bandwidth between them? At the same time?

"Add" isnt used in that manner.

If you want to run more than one dongle/radio, you must open a new instance of Console for each dongle. They will all be separate entities. if you have three dongles that can each cover 2Mhz, each in their own instance of Console, then it is possible to arrange them to cover a block of 6Mhz at once.

Hi J,
I was thinking something like this, which appears to be what I would like. From what you say ADD doesn't do this, so how is it used.
Perhaps, if you don't want endless questions, you could point me to instructions.

Hi Jim,
If you're interested try 145.350 mHz between 11 and 12 today, as I'll be talking to a couple of mates, and will listen for you.

The easy way is to use a SDR which covers a wider bandwidth.
There are several. The RX888 is much better than the RTLs, 8 against 16 bits, and covers at least 30MHz, possibly 60MHz now?
30MHz = >12 RTLs.

Hi A,
The RX888 looks interesting, I'll investigate.
Have you tried one?
