Is it normal for the waterfall to stop and vanish while changing frequency? It re-appears as soon as I stop tuning.

Waterfall disappears on tuning
Re: Waterfall disappears on tuning
The waterfall is being continuously generated for the hardware bandwidth of the SDR that you have selected (bandwidth as selected at left end of Home tab in the top ribbon bar), so as long as when you change frequency it is staying within that bandwidth then no, the waterfall should display at all times with no break while tuning.

A description of the PC (CPU, memory and the Windows version) and the video card might be helpful.

Thanks folks, yes I thought it should "move" as in follow the frequency smoothly with no break (which is within the hardware bandwidth, in fact usually less than 100 Khz). It manages this no problem with other SDR SW in my configuration as a panadapter.
PC config is Windows 10 Home, AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with 16GB RAM and GeForce GTX 1650 Super 4GB .

Have you disabled the cache?
A screenshot of Console running will help a lot.
