Discovery HDR

#1

Unread post by Homer1952 »

I did a search here on HDR and nothing came up.
So here is the question: Is there a procedure/instructions on how to activate HDR on a HF+ Discovery using SDR Console?

Thanx - Bob

What's HDR?

If you mean High Dynamic Range then it's always enabled, it's not a special feature.

Yes, HF+ always runs with maximum possible BDR.

Hmmm? I see talk about the Dual Port HF+ (unfortunately AirSpy has decided to use HF+ for 2 different units) needing R3 to be modded to get HDR. But the Discovery model already has it enabled. BTW, I have both.

Then I see SDRPlayDx (I believe) needing a s/w choice to enable HDR (High Dynamic Range).

OK, good to know the Discovery is running HDR/BDR all the time. In my search, I have not seen that overt statement.

Thanx.

R3 has nothing to do with dynamic range.
"R3" is actually a capacitor with a relatively low value. Shorting it just makes the HF+ more sensitive at the very low frequencies.

They don't call it "HDR", but explain that they decimate down to get the dynamic range.
