Baseband IQ from ICOM 7300

#1

Unread post by mstangelo »

I was not satisfied with the Noise Reduction and Noise Blanking Performance of the ICOM-7300. The Noise Reduction and Noise Blanking performace of SDRSharp impressed me (thanks Joanne).

The IC-7300 has a USB IF output where the the IQ Output as available at the 12kHz IF. It is available if you set the menu for the USB output. I fed this into the SDR Sharp "Source - Baseband from Sound Card" , set the frequency to 12kHz and am very satisfied with the results.

Is this IQ baseband processing possible with SDR Console? I could not find an entry for Baseband input.

I've attached a copy of the SDRSharp screen to show my configuration.

Thanks,

That is SDR Sharp, or SDR#.

This is the forum for a different software package, SDR Console.

You may want to try the Airspy forums on groups.io.

The question is about to SDR Console. Is this baseband input feature available with SDR Console? I just used SDRSharp as an example.

Visit www.sdr-radio.com. Follow the menus at the top of the page. There is a great deal of help and usage information there. I'd look at the R8600 setting as a starter.

Thanks for the reference. It shows instructions for loading a driver for the IC-8600 baseband. I tried to add the ICOM IC-8600 in SDRC Select Radio but it comes back with "Sorry no 'ICOM IC-8600' radios wee found"

I believe an entry for the ICOM IC-7300 Baseband would have to be added to use the existing ICOM Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge Com port driver.

I must say, though, the SDR# Audio plugins do an effective job.

For the serial port portion of the 7300 you need to use something like Com0Com (with "Use port class" checked) and OmniRig to to speak to SDRC. SDRC does not support anything other than one Kenwood protocol. So translation is required, hence OmniRig.

Then you have to setup SDRC for use as a panadaptor on a fixed receiver IF.

I thought you had already done that with the 12 kHz IF.

I got the 12 kHz IF output of the 7300 to SDRSharp by using the baseband source. There is no equivalent setting for the 7300 on SDRC so I started this topic.
