But is that FFT code as good on AMD processors as Intel processors? Is the AMD GPU support as good as nVidia?

Intel's clock speed is to compensate their less effective CPU architecture they have at this moment. Also, the downside of the higher clock of is that it generates more heat and needs more cooling and can lead to instability when under high load. It's a kind of camouflage for an older architecture and it seems things are going to happen @ Intel as they lost the advantage with some CPUs over its rival lately.

Check the AMD ZEN3 architecture for some answers.
