NEW COMPUTER QUESTION

#1

Unread post by SteveKH6CT »

Greetings...

Decided that trying to upgrade an old computer was not worth it.

Now, I'm looking at a new machine with following specs:

Intel Core i3-10100 3.60 GHz
Processor Main Features 64 bit Quad-Core Processor
Cache Per Processor 6 MB L3 Cache
Memory 8 GB DDR4 3000 MHz
Storage 512 GB SSD
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Super 4 GB
Power Supply 500W
Video Card Outputs
1 x DL-DVI-D
1 x HDMI 2.0b
1 x DisplayPort 1.4
PSU 500W

Software I'll be using is SDRC, Win4Yaesu, and Log4OM. So, will the software run well enough displayed on two monitors? And will I have any problems running one monitor from the DisplayPort and the other from the HDMI port?

Thanks, Steve KH6CT

It seems to run on my behemoth with 1 4K monitor and 2 1K monitors. Others might suggest I am nuts but I'd go for 16 GB of ram. But even as you specify it that should be a nice computer. I just tend to run a lot of stuff all at once so more ram is nice from my viewpoint. I think Simon has some minimum computer suggestions up on sdr-radio.com. Dig around a little. There is a lot of help and suggestions there.

Yep, agree. Ditto on the 16 Gb memory. Not an expensive upgrade. Probably won't need it but it's there for those times when you do. Everything else looks great.

Should rock nicely, especially with 2 x 4k monitors.

You are lucky to have a "financial advisor", most of us have a "financial controller" or a "capital budget manager" to persuade!

Thanks David... Financial Advisor is her title in our family government, but she has three votes and I get one.
