Geostationary Beacon is limited

#1

Unread post by HB9HCI »

The option Geostationary Beacon seems to be limited: Differences (Delta) Beacon frequency - displayed frequency < -100KHz are not selectable. This is a pity because the shift on my pluto is about 110KHz.
Is there a workaround?
tnx Andreas

Yes, different downconverter offsets.

Thanks! Yes it works! (But would be good if no workaround is necessary)

not your pluto is 110kc off but your lnb!
so its not a workaround in my view ... you just guessed that your lnb is accurate (but it is not)

Yes, Sigi - I agree, it is not a a problem of the pluto. But it would be helpful, if the correction range is increased. (The whole beacon-part is not pluto but lnb related)

The more undisciplined oscillators in your system the worse the calculation problem for applying corrections becomes. At some point it behooves the equipment owner to fix his equipment rather than try to patch it in software.

If it is a lot of work to expand the software to catch the dirty oscillators I agree with jdow. But if it is only justifying some parameters I still hope....

Surely that makes no difference if the geo lock is active. Changing the downconverter offset simply moves the initial frequency of the beacon. Once SDRC has locked, the beacon frequency is fixed regardless of the downconverter offset used.
