Add a 1500 kHz BW choice for WAN in SDR-server

#1

Unread post by sm6fhz »

Hi Simon.
It is not possible to fully utilize the 1333 kHz BW in the AFEDRI Net in the SDR-server as the maximum BW choice for WAN is 1000 kHz. See attached screenshot.
Would it be possible to have a higher alternative for WAN-interfaces than the 1000 kHz? E.G. 1500 kHz.
Maybe even higher alternatives than 1500 kHz for future high BW SDR-receivers e.g. RX-888 to be streamed over WAN.
I am using 100/100 Mbit/s all the way from my remote SDR-RX QTH to my PC receive QTH and can run the AFEDRI at full BW without any issues at all.

Great Simon.
That facilitates the use of the RX-888 up to 2 MHz BW over the server as well.
Most welcome :-)
Will try it out as soon as I can update my remote installation with that kit and the RX-888.
Thanks.

Hi Simon.
If we have a kit with 2 MHz BW with server WAN today or early morning tomorrow (<08Z), I can bring and install it at my remote site tomorrow and try it out in the evening when back in town.

Hi Simon.
No 2 MHz WAN BW in v3.0.26 server?
On November 23rd 08:10 you wrote that you would make a kit that day. I have missed if you did so. Sorry for that.

Yes, 2MHz is there, check the latest kit.

Hi Simon.

I have now been streaming IQ-data from my AFEDRI Net via the SDRC-server for two nights at 1333 MHz BW and it has been running very smoothly without any hiccups.
Thanks for implementing this feature, Simon! Great work.

However, I found that I was not able to make scheduled recordings via the server if I stop the radio. That might be a consequence of using the server but it was not obvious to me on beforehand. SDRC crashes when trying to start the radio. I can nor make recordings direct on the AFEDRI Net either when remote. The recording attempts to start but ceases at once.
Setting up a recording is extremely slow as well. I have to wait for a long time for the "OK" button to light up to be pressed to save the recording set-up.

Again,

Where are the screenshots?

* Correct - you can't schedule the server, just stay connected.
* Why can't you make a recording when using Afedri LAN locally - logfile?
* When you get a crash do you see 'Please Wait'.

Please, please, please give me something I can work with!

FWIW I am working on the matrix, getting it a bit more usable before a full rewrite in 2021 (will take a week).

Hoping to throw a buggy kit out later today.

Hi Simon.

Yes, we all do as much as we possibly can to keep you busy

I have done some more testing and it does work now remotely accessing (it was not locally, sorry if I was unclear before) the AFEDRI directly via it's IP and it starts OK, but it does not stop after the recording is done, so it is no meaning not to have it running from the start.
I suspect that my problems with this configuration before might have been due to that the target folder had Swedish characters in it's name. This has been OK before so I was not observant to that.

Trying to make a recording when connected to the AFEDRI via SDRC-server, with the radio running fails as well. I enclose screenshots this time
Scheduler window and error message.

No "Please wait" is shown. It just crashes.
