I had to do a lot of reading to understand filter choices and the differences between filters.
I think tooltips to advise the user on which filter to use would be very helpful.
I am sure that there are "best choice" filters to use for each demodulation type.
For USB voice I typically use a Kaiser-Bessel 25 with length of 16 and range of 73-3760hz.
This, I find, preserves a lot of audio depth and provides a high-clarity signal for my later stage tools to work with.
But understanding that it was the correct filter to use required learning about the different filters available to me,
and seeing screenshots of the waveforms and audio from each.
But I don't know the "BEST" to use for RTTY or other types of signals.
It would probably be sensible if the waterfall filter was the same as the filter for the dsp.
So you see what you hear.
It would probably also make sense if the filter customization gave tooltips that advise what each filter is best at.
