It's all about the Software

Dear,

simple feature to add in the External Radio Options menu, submenu Transmit.
Please add next to the Mute Audio checkbox a additional feature that will add extra time when the TX is going back to RX. There is some delay and I get very bad feedback from my TX into my SDR play.
So, next to the Mute Audio checkbox add Extend mute time with: xxx ms with an option to choose between 0 and 600ms.
This will help to get rid of the additional feedback when going to RX.

I think this picture will explain it all!

I just calculated. I get a feedback of about 1500ms. So the mute should go up to at least 2 seconds. Can this be implemented?

just curious.... obvious you are using a SDRplay for RX but what is your TX?
And more interesting why does it still TX'ing for about 1,5 sec after you stop?
Is there such a long delay in a serial connection? Is it a virtual comm port? wich one?

this is the setup:
RX: SDR Play RSP1A
TX: TS-480S
Splitter: Easy TR Switch from the QRPkits dot com website.

You can see the ugly feedback I get on my streams. I try to mute by adding the auto-mute feature, but it works intermittent.
Example:

Why to have the possible extended mute time: sometimes? I will add some waiting time to give additional protection with the TR switch to the SDRplay.

PS. A cosmetic feature:
I can also suggest to give the signal history meter a way to check, like I have done in the live stream, a gradient background, with 0->9 a dark background 9->9+20 another background, 9+20 -> 9+40 another background, etc. Just another suggestion.

ahh ok Kurt, cute little switch. I suppose you're using the RF sense on it, does it switch faster when you're using the manual input?
How do you use the relay contacts on it? 1. RX signal passes the switch when TX is off? or 2. short the RX antenne when TX?
2 seems to me a better protection for the RX as long there's no delay in switching ofcource.

btw when you use the RF sniffing option and the relay has a to long fall-off delay then have a look at this capacitor (4.7u), try to make it smaller.

If you want the relay to hang a little longer, I guess the higher value the capacitor should have?
I hope they will implement this in extended mute time in their next version.
