WD8ED Back up after lighting strike.

Unread post by WD8ED »

For those that use my WD8ED SDR-Radio Server, you may have noticed it was down a day or two. The power here recently took a serious brown down after a lightning strike nearby. It took out the video display and power supply of the iMac 24 I was using as a server. The parts finally showed up and the server should be back up. There maybe some short periods of time it may be unavailable because it still needs some work. But that should be very short and during times of low activity.

Thanks,

Ed

Thank you Ed!

Yes, that time of the year I worry about all my gear while I'm out of town.

Thank you!

I don't live in an area with a lot of severe thunderstorms any longer. But... It's mostly woods up here. Lightning strikes a tree and the tree falls onto the power lines. So instead of a big jolt we end up with 30-60 seconds of brown outs. Breakers never pop and it's hard on gear.

Thanks,

Ed
