Hi All.
I asked "shenglongsi" again this morning when my delivery of my RX-888 that was ordered on Aug 22nd would be delivered. This is the answer I got.

Quote

The factory produced 4 RX888, ADI is temporarily out of stock, so it is temporarily removed

Has urged the factory to make it as soon as possible

End quote

I am not sure how to interpret the answer. Remove ADI? What would that mean?
Has anyone else any response from "shenglongsi" with respect to the RX-888? Deliveries on RX-888 ordered after Aug 22nd?
"shenglongsi" is not very clear in their communication. They have not been honest about what they can deliver or not in this case.

My supplier said:-
"We purchased a new batch of this product from our supplier last week .
It should have arrived earlier.. .i contacted the supplier again today.
But the supplier told us it was under upgrading and will still needs some days to finish .
Really apologize for the inconvenience.
Shall we cancel the order and refund you pls to avoid any delay?"

So I cancelled and had my refund. As I'd already bought a 666 I did not really want the 888 anyway.
It will be interesting to see if there really is an upgrade.

I received my RX-888 today. It's been up and running for about two hours, it seems like a very nice receiver.

I've had quite a few crashes when changing bandwidth; I'll have to play with that more to determine if there is a pattern. I will post in the bug area if I get anything. Where are the crash dump files found?

Hi all.
Finally my Rx-888 seems to be on it's way to me now. Package picked up by DHL at "shenglongsi" today.
It took a month and a short week from my order to actual delivery from them. That is not good, not even acceptable, when they claimed that several units were available at the time for my order at their eBay web-shop.
I hope it will arrive in good shape and be in accordance with specs. Looking forward playing with it.

Crash Dumps

Use This Kit Please

I've built this kit on my staging machine, as a result I can analyse crash dumps with the kit below. Just upload the full crash dump to the cloud and send a link here or to mailto:simon@sdr-radio.com.

Hi all.
This morning DHL delivered my RX-888 after a one month and 1 weeks wait. It looks very nice and is a very cute little porcupine :-) it is very a sharp piece of receiver I must say.
It came to live at once without any misbehaves at all. It runs very stable on the 3.0.25 September 28-0716 kit. I have not even had one single unexpected stop nor crash.
It becomes warm to close to hot to the touch, but nothing alarming. I may look into putting a small 12V fan running on the 5V USB power to keep in cooler.
I will report on my findings when I have had the time to test it somewhat more.

Hi Ingolf

I have asked elsewhere on here for experiences of the RX888 VHF/UHF performance but so far no responses.

I would be very interested in your opinions once you have had some time to play with it.
