Recording: default span - display?

Another one from me (sorry!)
When setting up a recording, currently the default recording span is that of the selected radio.
Is it possible to have the user to have the option of being able to specify that the default recording range is the current displayed span, and the same for the preset recording options as set up under Tools.. Options... Recording... Preset 1/2/3 ?
I've lost count of the number of times that I want to record just (say) the 50khz span that is on my display but end up recording the whole current 1.5Mhz span of the radio. Drives me mad !
