If while recording data you adjust the zoom, the resulting display doesn't correspond to the correct frequency.

I've seen this before. Maybe the zoom ought to be locked while recording.

Perhaps this might be an issue with defining "correct frequency." In this case does he mean it really does expand around a frequency other than the frequency to which the front end is tuned?

When you zoom you zoom into the center frequency of the baseband, not the frequency you're tuned to.
