Audio Recording using the " Wide - U " mode.

Many thanks for providing such an excellent and useful application.

The DSP mode "Wide-U" is of great use to me. In this mode one may set a bandwidth of up to 48kHz (F0 + - BW/2) and record the resulting signal as a file in *.wav format.

Questions :

1. What is the sample rate of the output file *.wav file ?
The sample rate may be changed as one selects different bandwidths.

2. Can one specify the sample rate ?

Or

3. Is the sample rate fixed at a maximum say 96 kilo samples per sec (ksps)?

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy.

For best purity of the output for future processing the data rate is not something a user can manipulate easily if at all. It is not likely a power of two multiple of 3 kHz. If it is fed through a resampler there will be a reduction in signal quality; but, programs fed the signal may work just fine. (A PSK decoder or ALE decoder would work quite well - even on the normal SSB reception.) Other decoders might find reasons to not be happy. On the whole I suspect most uses would be happy. Check the widest filter you can create and divide by about 5 or so to get the highest audio sample rate that will be meaningful. (Resampling 48 kHz to 96 kHz will still be about 20 kHz wide for the audio.)

Audio is recorded at 48kHz, this is fixed.

What sample rate range might be the source rate to the resampler? If it's lower than 48 ksps then that lower rate defines the data bandwidth.

Yep,

It'll be 24kHz, same as the maximum filter width.
