Is anyone using the SDR console as a "poor man's" spectrum analyzer along with an SDR RX and a noise source?
What are the best SW settings for this purpose?

It is not designed for this use. So you may have accuracy and calibration issues if you try. For example certain (contrived) signals can elicit very obviously invalid signal level readings.
