How to know if SAM mode is locked and what the offset is?

I like to use SAM in a number of cases and would like to know when the frequency is locked and what the offset is if locked or not. Thanks and enjoy, John.

Find a AM SW station , click SAM , then use the scroll wheel on mouse in frequency window on say the 100's khz (pick whichever you like) then move 100 or 500hz and you will hear a pitched noise as SAM re-locks on to it , then to check the offset click usb or lsb adjusting to zero beat and that'll be the offset on the current setting , the basic way imo , cheers Paul

ps-Pick 1khz to hear the high pitched relock clearly ...

Thanks, lappydesktop, but I would think the software should do this. Also I often use SAM to calibrate my SDR. Thanks and enjoy, John.

Hi , i guessed that was what you were really asking (why does not the software do it) , but if anyone else needed to know how the rough basic way is there :) and these days on SW/AM frequency accuracy is pretty good as i cannot recall one being off frequency for a very long time (i do a lot of VFO spinning)

Try the add a feature/suggestions page , cheers Paul
