One enduring memory from childhood was my father "suborning" BBC Research Department colleagues at Kingswood to help align our very first simple Band II dipole.
They came equipped with an impressive test set which was described in "Wireless World", December 1959, pp 559-562 (downloadable from https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Wirele ... -S-OCR.pdf).
I can't think of a better way for a bored SDR guru to spend a free weekend, replicating this "wobbulator" display for the delight of us common people.
