Cannot add an external radio

Hello folks,

Apologies in advance if this is a simple fix but I've failed to add an external radio to Console.

I have followed the instructions;

View-More Options-Enable External radio- Then restart.

Its the restart is where I have the problem, every time I restart I do not get the external radio panel and when I click on external radio I'm asked to restart again (screen shot attached).

I followed the reset instructions for console including reinstalling 3 different versions and still the same issue.

Omnirig 1.2 is working fine with other applications such as HRD.

Please don't crop screenshots when posting them. You've chopped off top and bottom of the window and they both contain useful info (like version number for example).

Yes, that does sound odd. What version of SDRC are you running? What's the SDR? Both of these could have been seen on an uncropped screenshot!

Actually I think I understand what you are doing...... Once you click on External Radio then restart, that enables the external radio, as shown by the button showing "active". When you click it again you are going through the same cycle to turn it off again (hence another restart). Once the button is showing "active/enabled" status, then you just need to reveal the external radio panel by expanding it on the left hand side in the RX DSP panel.

I can see it says "External Radio" on the left hand side about half way down the screen. Just click the little downward arrow to expand it. See attached pic.

You could probably do with expanding Mode and Filter panels as well!

Thanks for getting back to me so quick Max,

Apologies on the cropping.

I only saw the External Radio drop down after I made the post.

That makes sense because the drop down for the external radio appears and disappears with the alternative restarts.

So next problem, when I try to connect via omni-rig via the External Radio window I'm getting an error, screen grab attached. I also include the logfile below.

I checked that Omni-rig is working by connecting HRD through it before and after the attached error. No issues. It's likely something small that I'm missing as this is my first time using omni-rig and I'm not computer literate.


The SDR is the SDRplay RSpdx and the version is v3.4

Really not sure about the Omni rig issue. I know you said you are using Omnirig 1.20, Are you using the version downloaded from the official website?

Also suggest downloading the latest .INI file from the same place.

Assuming you did, I'd suggest uninstalling then reinstalling Omnirig and see if that solves the issue. I'm no expert but looks like SDRC is looking for it in the wrong location maybe?

If that fails, make sure to run Omnirig before you run SDR Console and see if that works.
