It's all about the Software

Greetings all,

I basically reimaged my system, finally, after I can't even begin to ponder how long. So a new SSD a new install, a new experience right? All goes well, at least I thought so until I go to install my favorite SDR app. It doesn't even load or start, I get greeted with the dreaded error(0xc000007b) one that's normally experienced with the gaming community. I've uninstalled all vsc++ redis's; sdr-console, dotnet, graphics drivers even used ddu. Ran sfc, dism component cleanup with restore, even reset the Window's store cache. Rebooted Installed sdr-console let it do its thing, reboot and bang. Same issue again. Uninstalled it, installed all my drivers, vsc++, etc. Still the same issue, and everything else works without a hitch. I am at a loss here.

My first guess is did you download and install both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the redistributable files? Are you trying to load a 32 bit version or a 64 bit version of SDRC? I'd select the 64 bit version since you are on a 64 bit OS version. There is a file missing and in its infinite capacity of generating 100% accurate and 99.44% useless error messages we have to guess what is missing.

Yup, I installed the 64bit variant. Over several methods with Windows 11, with 2 fresh installation's returning the same error. Heck, I even jumped into the Insider beta channel build to see if anything would change, and nope. I'm not sure what to make of it, other than perhaps faulty hardware at this point. It can and will happen time to time, frustrating. Oh-well, going to shrug this off and order another SSD and see. Meh. The console is awesome, and I'm gonna miss using it till I can get back to a proper functional system. Till then...

Ah - you only have the one sampling front end? I suppose this might actually be a worthwhile use for an rtlsdr dongle. "Does my install work or is it my front end selection?"

I had another thought. You reimaged your system. Did you save off the SDRC settings and reinstall them on the new image? Rename the AppData folder and the SDR-Radio (V3) registry tree so you are starting over fresh. See if it still crashes. I suspect it never gets to the point of creating an SDRC log. But looking for it in %appdata% might be worthwhile. I presumed you tried running SDRC without the front end plugged in. If you've not done that test, it is worthwhile.

It might also be quite worthwhile to run debugview and try running SDRC. There MIGHT be a debug message worth seeing.

Nope, none of it. Your assumption is correct. What is weird about the installation is it goes through as normal, but there is nothing for it in the user/appdata/local or programdata folders, just program files. I'm boggled (slams head on desk), but I can launch the server portion. I guess that's a good lead, I dug into the event viewer to dig for something, and yup. I appreciate the help and pointers. Thank you.

I also noted that you re-imaged your PC ...
just a thought - did you completely remove all of the SDR Console settings in the registry ?

It could be that the registry contains out-dated data referring to the old hardware.

Maybe try removing the registry entry for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SDR-RADIO.com (V3) ( and all it contains ).

Hi,

Well good news is I got it all working. Shocking thing, it was bad RAM, not an SSD issue. Anyhow my situation is fixed but was a serious bit flipping condition. It was in the upper DIMMS which sucks and I wouldn't have noticed unless saturating my memory since I'm running with 32GB. Dam power outages will do it. And yeah it will ruin UPS/BBU's which I've lost to them. Just Glad I can use SDR - Console again.
