External radio vs SDR receive operation Qs

I have Console connected to my IC-7100 as "external radio" and an RSPdx as the SDR receiver. I also have an MFJ-1708B SDR TX switch in circuit to use my 7100's antenna for transmit (only a 2 meter for now).

Most everything seems to work ok except I don't understand a few things...

1) When "external radio" is selected, Console is synched with 7100 tuning and is using the 7100s 2 meter antenna (the only antenna connected to the 7100). I can receive and transmit fine. All good. Is Console disconnected from my RSPdx antenna? Is Console disconnected from my RSPdx?

2) When "external radio" is disabled, what is going on in my setup? The Console's antenna selector (A, B, and C for my dx) seems to be working because when I select C, the setting for my receive loop) the scope comes alive - a 10+ dBm increase in levels. Is Console disconnected from the 7100's antenna?

3) With the 2) setup, while I get 20 and 30 dBm peaks on the scope as if there is a signal there, I hear no or little difference in the background noise when tuned to those peaks. Yes, the audio is working, but I feel like I don't have things set up exactly right. When tuning around with my Uno, I used to get audio on such peaks. What is a good test or checklist, portion of the manual, or video to determine if I have things set properly in Console for the RSPdx to do it's thing?

I've been using Console for only a short time, so there is a really good chance a setting or two is not right.

I probably didn't have the correct mode selected within the DSP window, e.g USB in 20 meter.
