I would like to transfer the matrix setup I have configured on one computer to another computer also running SDR-Console. The matrix is pretty tedious to set up, but I can always call up the configuration on each computer and manually transfer the information. Is there a simpler way to do this? I kind of peeked at the hidden Users Data files (I didn't touch anything!) but didn't see an obvious candidate file to hold the information.
Thanks,

Matrix data transfer/save/load ?
Re: Matrix data transfer/save/load ?
There is a way to do it. It is pretty much all or nothing unless you study a little. With study you can fairly reliably transfer all of one identity to another computer or another identity on the same computer. This requires fiddling in the registry and the user's %AppData% folder.
Start SDRConsole. You want to load the identity you want to copy. Open the "tools" ribbon bar menus. You can get to the registry entries for the selected identity with the "Registry" selection. Then you can get to the %AppData% files for the identity with the "Files->User folder" selection.
The first thing I would do in the registry editor is right click on the identity key that comes up vertical center of the window. Select "File->Export". Give it a useful name and save it. Then I'd slide my eyes up to the "SDR-RADIO.com (v3)", select it, right click on it, and export it. That will be a full registry backup for the source machine. It's nice to have sometimes. Then in the explorer window that came up at something like:
"C:\users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SDR-RADIO.com (V3)\Console\Ident1". Go up one folder. Select the folder you just left. ^C ^V to create a copy of it. Both the exported registry entry for that identity and the folder you just copied are used to setup the second machine. God, or a good knowledge of registry hacking, save you if you want to change the username, identity name, or other particulars. If no registry hacking is needed simply double click on the reg file on the new machine. Then copy the identity file you copied out of the %AppData% related folder into the new machine's, "%AppData%\SDR-RADIO.com (V3)\Console" folder. That should work the magic. If names need to change the registry file must be edited to reflect the new reality. Please please please don't do it if you are not sure about the process. The file structure is plain enough if you study it a bit. The solution involves mass renames.
Note that this process will wipe out any entry on the new machine with that particular identity name. But, I figure you knew that was likely already. You may also have to make a few changes when running SDRC to reflect the different front end selections and such. But that's stuff you've done before.
Good luck with it. And I or another user comfortable with this sort of task should be able to answer your questions. Give me a day or two turn around. I don't live here; and, my spouse has a lame wing at the moment. (Rotator cuff surgery. -- Recommendation - do not, repeat do not, get old. It sucks. It only beats the alternative.)
{^_^} (Maybe MAYBE I can move myself to try to make a "futility" (pun on utility) that does all this automatically. It should be easy. It's moving ME to do it that is getting hard.)

Re: Matrix data transfer/save/load ?
Whew - thanks jdow.
I feel mostly confident of doing the things you suggest (and I learned a lot that I'll file away for possible future use) but for the relatively little information I want to transfer, I think doing it manually is a better option for me at the moment. Don't bother with whipping up a script - maybe it's best if I lobby Simon to add a save/load to the Multiband feature.
By the way I really meant Multi-band rather than Matrix - I mixed the two up in my mind when posting, I hope it didn't cause confusion.
Thanks again,
Mike

Re: Matrix data transfer/save/load ?
I suspect it's all or nothing for transferring the matrix view for multiple receivers. And it is saved automagically by the Windows OS tools he is using. Breaking it out from the other material stored would be rather difficult.
