Hi all
I need to re-install SDR Console on a new computer.
Is there a config file that I can transfer from one computer to the other so I do not have to spend hours reconfiguring ? If so, how is it named, and where is it located ?

Config file ?
Re: Config file ?
First visit "https://www.sdr-radio.com/user-settings". Visit the registry. Select the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SDR-RADIO.com (V3)" key. Right click on it. Select "Export" from the popup menu. Give it a file name and click OK. Copy this over to your dongle for moving things from machine to machine. Open a folder and drill to "C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming" folder with Dave replaced with your username. You can also get there by typing "appdata" into the address bar and hitting return. Go into Roaming. In either case find the "SDR-RADIO.com (V3)" folder. Copy that entire folder to your transfer device.
On the new machine double click on the .reg file you created. Then again get to the Roaming folder one way or another. Copy your transfer copy of "SDR-RADIO.com (V3)" into the roaming folder.
That SHOULD work. Of course, do this all with no SDR-Radio program or tool loaded into memory showing their GUIs.

Hi Paul
You could also use Tools/Backup/Backup. Works a treat. You'll need to backup each identity. On your new installation, use the Restore function. Just remember where you exported them to! On Restore, you can map to a different identity number. ie old identity 5 could become new identity 2. As far as I remember, you have to define the identity first - so add your radio definition before restoring the identity - if that makes sense.
This will bring across all your favourites, filter definitions, etc. But not the basic settings like S-meter, palette, etc.

Re: Config file ?
That is safer, indeed. If one is not approaching panic at the thought of looking at the registry my way gets the whole thing in a pair of large lumps.
I do keep forgetting I am entirely too comfortable diddling around in the registry. I even have an older copy of the SDR-Radio registry key for brute force recovery. That's not recommended unless you understand the registry. And I keep an "AppData" icon on my desktop. So the brute force approach is what comes to mind first. It should not be too difficult to build a shell script or a C++ utility to perform brute force export and import for registry and AppData.
Edit: DUH! I just thought of what the problem might be. The "Receive Pane" may have gotten docked to the main window. If what he has more or less matches the attached file, then he can use the mouse to grab the "Receivers" title bar at the top of the receiver windows and pull it off the main window to its own big window.
