Routing output audio from v3.3

#1

Unread post by ke4th »

New user as of today. Where do I go in v3.3 to change the audio output from default (speakers) to another destination? Also, is there a virtual cable that works well for connecting SDR Console to WSJT-x?
Many thanks for any responses!

In the DSP panel, under the frequency readout.
See atached.

Keith, audio selection as per Kriss's screenshot, in the RX DSP panel. It's possible you might not have the DSP panel showing. Call this up in the Ribbon Bar (the strip of options at top of screen)

Receive Tab > DSP (button on extreme left of the Ribbon Bar)

Suitable virtual serial cable:

The most common (and free) option is VB-Cable. For most people this works fine. I did have a PC where I could never get it to work with SDR Console, despite working in other apps/programs. Never got to the bottom of it, but must have been hardware related. Have now upgraded my PC and it works just fine. Go figure.

One cable is free. If you want two or more you need to donate.

The most comprehensive virtual cable is the original one from Eugene Muzychenko. It's not free but it has a great many adjustable variables and it's pretty rock solid reliable. Not sure how many cables it allows you to set up but it's a large number!

He also has Audio Repeater (free). Because SDR Console only has one audio output per receiver, it's useful if you want to send audio to an app via a VAC but be able to "listen" across it to be able to also hear it at the same time:

https://vac.muzychenko.net/en/repeater.htm

You can also accomplish this natively in Windows. However, Audio Repeater is possibly a neater option and far less irritating to turn on and off than using the below method:

Audio Devices (can be called by typing mmsys.cpl in the RUN dialogue) >Recording>Select the VAC>Properties (or double click the VAC in list)>Listen to This Device

With SDRC you must run ALL audio devices in and out at 48kHz sampling rate (set in Windows or in VAC). It's particularly important to have a stable 48kHz audio source on the audio INPUT to the TX DSP. If you don't you might not even get Tone or Tune signals to work on the TX DSP, as SDRC uses the audio input as a clock/ref for the TX audio chain.

Hope it helps a little.

If you have several "receivers" (see Receiver panel in ribbon bar) the active one gets its audio redirected to the port you select. Different receivers can speak to different audio ports.
